At 10:06 a.m., the regular monthly meeting of the Virginia Racing Commission (VRC) was called to order by Executive Secretary, Bernard Hettel.

The minutes of the regular meeting held on September 20, 2012 were unanimously approved.

A discussion ensued regarding 2013 Thoroughbred Race Days. It was moved by Commissioner Dawson to accept the request of Colonial Downs and the VAHBPA regarding race days for 2013. The request was for twenty-five (25) days of Thoroughbred racing from Saturday, June 8 to Saturday, July 13, 2013. The schedule will be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a first race post time of 6:00 pm and Sunday with a first race post time of 1:00 pm. The motion to approve Thoroughbred race days was seconded by Vice Chairman, Sarge Reynolds and unanimously approved.

A discussion ensued regarding 2013 Standardbred Race Days. It was moved by Commissioner Dawson to accept the request of Colonial Downs and the VHHA regarding race days for 2013. The request was for twenty-four (24) days of Standardbred racing from Wednesday, September 18 to Sunday, October 27, 2013. The schedule will be Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday with a first race post time of 1:00 pm on all days. The motion to approve the Standardbred race days was seconded by Vice Chairman Sarge Reynolds and unanimously approved.

There being no further business, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. was set as the date and time of the next meeting to be held at Horsemen’s Building, 10700 Horsemen’s Road, New Kent, VA. The meeting was then adjourned.
